Pack for the trip

What to bring

Arrive about ten minutes early for your first visit. We’ll have a short health history form ready for you.

  1. 01

    A list of medications

Including vitamins and supplements, plus any health conditions or allergies.

  2. 02

    Your insurance details

Plan or policy number, your ID number, and the plan member’s name and date of birth.

  3. 03

    Your previous dentist’s name

With your permission, we can ask them for recent x-rays so you don’t need new ones.

  4. 04

Insurance & costs

No surprises downstream

Written estimates

Before any treatment beyond a check-up, you’ll get a written estimate. Nothing starts until you’re comfortable with the plan and the cost.

Working with your insurer

Bring your plan details and we’ll help you understand your coverage. For larger treatment, we can send a pre-determination to your insurer first.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan

Please call us to ask whether we can see you under the CDCP. Read our CDCP guide to see who qualifies.

First visits for children

Small boats, calm water

A child’s first visit should feel like an adventure, not an ordeal. We keep it short, playful and on their terms.

  • First visit by the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth
  • A ride in the chair and a count of their teeth, at their pace
  • Tips for parents on brushing, snacks and thumb-sucking
  • Booking siblings and parents back to back is easy, just ask

Questions

Before you set out

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. New patients of every age are welcome, including families, seniors and people who haven’t seen a dentist in a while.

It’s been years since I saw a dentist. Is that a problem?

Not at all, and there’s no lecture waiting for you. We’ll start with a gentle look at where things stand and make a plan at a pace that suits you.

When should my child first see a dentist?

The Canadian Dental Association recommends a first visit within six months of the first tooth appearing, or by the first birthday. Early visits are short, friendly and mostly about getting comfortable.

How often should I come in?

Many people do well with a check-up and cleaning every six months. Some need visits more often, others less. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your mouth, not a one-size rule.

Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

Please call us at (705) 788-9229 to ask whether we can see you under the CDCP. Our Field Notes guide explains who qualifies and how the plan works.
